Forum EPFL, a strong support for our students

29 october 2021

For the past two years, Europe’s largest recruitment fair, Forum EPFL, has been committed to support students’ projects related to SP80 and the quest to beat the world sailing speed record.

As educational training has always been at the heart of our adventure, it is crucial for us that our students carry out their academic projects in the best possible conditions.

In 2020, Forum EPFL’s support has allowed us to give students the opportunity to build our scaled model. This prototype was a precious milestone to tackle the final boat’s construction  with confidence.
Today our efforts are mainly focused on the kite which will allow the boat to reach 80 knots (150km/h).

A total of 34 academic projects have been carried out within SP80, mainly thanks to the involvement of Forum EPFL. These projects cover fields as varied as prototyping, mechanics, hydrodynamics, aerodynamics and structural studies.
All of which with the objective of developing the final boat and/or having a better comprehension of the phenomenons at play during navigation.

Being able to exchange and expose our latest developments to the public is also very important to us. We wish to bring people together around this famous world sailing speed record.

With this in mind, we were happy to present SP80 at the Forum 2020 and Forum 2021, an amazing opportunity to meet each other in these times of pandemic! About 18’000 people come to Forum EPFL every year, and that makes it a must-attend event in order to be close to both students and companies, and to share our passion.

A huge thank you to Forum EPFL for their support, which continuously allows students to bring a more practical experience to their academic training through SP80!
